India had set a target of 245/7 while batting first, but Miandad’s brilliant unbeaten knock of 116* helped Pakistan chase it down, winning by just one wicket.

Aamir Khan, the Bollywood actor, recently recounted an amusing incident from his wedding day, where an India vs Pakistan cricket match ended up playing a surprising role in the proceedings. Speaking in an interview on The Lallantop, he reminisced about the unforgettable moment.

On April 18, 1986, Aamir Khan got married, coinciding with the day of the Austral-Asia Cup final between India and Pakistan, held in Sharjah. The match ended in a thrilling fashion when Pakistan’s Javed Miandad hit a six off the last ball, giving his team a dramatic win.

“My wedding took place on 18 April, 1986. I remember it clearly because it was the same day Javed Miandad hit that unforgettable six in Sharjah. It was a day of celebration for us. We were winning the game, and I was overjoyed. It was a perfect day, and it would have been even better if we had beaten Pakistan too. I was so excited,” he said.

“I still don’t know from where Javed Miandad managed to hit that six off the last ball. Years later, I bumped into him on a flight and told him that what he did wasn’t right. I even joked, saying, ‘You ruined my marriage by hitting that six on the same day,” he added.

India had set a target of 245/7 while batting first, but Miandad’s brilliant unbeaten knock of 116* helped Pakistan chase it down, winning by just one wicket.
