Dale Steyn will not be a part of Sunrisers Hyderbad’s coaching team in IPL 2024 as he has requested for a break this year, according to Cricbuzz. He is expected to return in 2025.
The 40-year-old legendary pacer has informed the management about his unavailability this year. The 2016 champions are looking for a new bowling coach.
The responsibility is now on the head coach, Daniel Vettori, who is looking for a suitable candidate. Steyn was a part of Deccan Chargers, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL. He was associated with SRH since 2022 as a bowling coach. He played a vital role in the emergence of Umran Malik.
Meanwhile, the Orange Army is likely to appoint Pat Cummins as captain for the upcoming season. He was bought for INR 20.5 crore in the last auction in Dubai. Aiden Markram has led the side in the previous two seasons. Despite Markram leading the SunRisers Eastern Cape to their second consecutive title in SA20, he is likely to be removed from SRH’s captaincy in IPL.
