On Sunday, Mumbai Indians’ legendary batter Rohit Sharma surpassed Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s star player Virat Kohli.
Earlier in the day, during the first match of the double-header, King Kohli played an unbeaten knock of 73* runs off 54 balls against Punjab Kings and was awarded the Player of the Match. With this, he equaled Rohit Sharma’s record for the most Player of the Match awards by an Indian player in IPL history. Watch a video for more details.
However, just a few hours later, Rohit Sharma reclaimed the top spot by winning the Player of the Match award against Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
Now, Hitman stands at the top of the list with 20 POTM awards, followed by Virat Kohli with 19 POTM awards, and CSK captain MS Dhoni at third with 18 Player of the Match awards. Meanwhile, overall, AB de Villiers leads the chart with 25 Player of the Match awards in IPL history.
