Indian players unhappy with BCCI’s new family rule, Rohit Sharma to meet secretary Devajit Saikia

Rohit Sharma didn’t know that the mic was on when he sat down with the chief selector Ajit Agarkar for a press conference regarding the selection of the team for the ODI series against England and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

He spoke to Agarkar about the new family rule introduced by the BCCI. According to new terms, wives and family members can stay with the players for 14 days on a 45-day tour. The dates will be decided after getting permission from the captain, chief selector, and the manager.

Indian players are unhappy with this policy, and they have registered their concerns with captain Rohit.

“After the press conference, I have to sit with the secretary to discuss the family role. People are calling me,’ said Rohit.

The apex body of Indian cricket has come down hard on the players after the Test series defeat in Australia. The visitors lost three games while winning just one contest in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. BCCI didn’t like the performance of the players and introduced 10 SOPs for the cricketers to follow.

Apart from restricting the stay of the families, BCCI has barred players from traveling separately with their loved ones. All the cricketers will have to travel in the team bus while their family members will travel in a different vehicle.
