Rohit Sharma continues to falter in front of the pacers in Test cricket, with the latest dismissal showing a lack of confidence and will to stay in the middle. He played a half-hearted stroke on a short delivery by Pat Cummins, with Scott Boland taking an easy catch. The Indian captain scored just 3 runs, adding another failure to his never-ending list.

After three ordinary innings at No.6, Rohit promoted himself in the batting order, but even this move was not fruitful. Shubman Gill was the casualty to bring back Rohit in the top order as the batter was dropped.
Rohit hasn’t done anything in the last eight Tests, with Bangladesh, New Zealand, and Australia quicks proving too much for him. He was in form in the home series against England earlier this year, but since then, the right-handed batter has gifted his wickets to the rivals.
When he was asked about his form after the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, he refused to address the concern seriously. “I am not out of form as I am feeling good from inside. I am batting well in the nets,” he had said.
The same line has been followed by the team management in the press conferences. If Rohit doesn’t fire in the remaining three innings, there is a possibility of him getting dropped unless he retires from the format.
