Ravichandran Ashwin has retired from international cricket, and the veteran made the announcement after the third Test between India and Australia at the Gabba in Brisbane. He recently spoke to Michael Atherton and Nasser Hussain on Sky Sports. Ashwin said that people think that he is serious and doesn’t enjoy the game like Virat Kohli.
“I wanted to be known for who I am. A lot of times when I picked up a wicket, it was Virat Kohli who was all over the place, which made people believe that I was serious and Virat was having all the fun.
“I am never a serious person but when someone is hitting me for runs and I have the ball in my hand to win a Test for India, my mind is sticking because I am living in that moment of the game,” he said.
Ashwin, who took 37 five-fers along with the 11 Player of the Series awards, said that he doesn’t believe in celebrating his milestones extravagantly. “I don’t give a kiss through the blade of my bat to my wife sitting in the dressing room or in the hospitality box. I got diluted in the fact of what I have become,” he added.
He will play for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League 2025.
