After Shakib Al Hasan, another legendary Bangladesh cricketer lands in problem for inciting attacks during turmoil

Legendary Bangladesh cricketer Mashrafe Mortaza and 90 others have been accused of inciting attacks during the recent political turmoil in the country, as reported by bdcrictime.com on September 11. Narali’s Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) secretary, Sheikh Mostafa AL-Muzahidur Rahman Palash, lodged the complaint.

The complaint was filed on September 10, but no arrests have been made so far. The case also includes 400-500 unnamed people.

The anti-government protests turned violent, and the then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left the nation. Several people were killed while many were injured in the unrest that lasted for more than a month.

Mashrafe Mortaza’s house was also set on fire by the protesters. Both Shakib and Mashrafe were Members of the Parliament under the Awami League, the ruling party of the nation.

Mashrafe Mortaza played 36 Tests, 220 ODIs, and 54 T20Is for Bangladesh, picking 390 wickets across formats and scoring 2,961 runs. He is the most successful Bangladesh captain in ODIs, with 50 wins in 88 games.
