Former Pakistan player Younis Khan gives a special message to new ICC chairman Jay Shah

Former Pakistan player Younis Khan wants the new chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC), Jay Shah, to help India in visiting Pakistan and vice-versa.

According to the reports, the BCCI doesn’t want to send the Men in Blue to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. However, a section feels the situation would change with Jay Shah heading the ICC.

“The cricket should uplift with the appointment of Jay Shah as the new ICC chief. He needs to show the sportsman spirit, and with his intervention, India can play in Pakistan. In the same way, Pakistan can visit India,” Younis Khan said.

The last bilateral series between the two countries took place in 2012-13, with Pakistan coming to India. On the other hand, India last played in Pakistan in 2005-06.

The two arch-rivals now only clash in the ICC tournaments and Asia Cup.

“There is a need for the Pakistan cricketers to keep their morale high”: Younis Khan

Younis Khan said that Pakistan’s defeat to Bangladesh in the first Test was heartbreaking. The hosts suffered a 10-wicket defeat after declaring in the first innings.

“Players are under more pressure when they play at home. There is a need for the players to keep their morale high. Everyone is talking about the nature of the pitch. We won matches when no international cricket was played in the country,” he said.

Younis refused to agree with the PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi that Pakistan doesn’t have a good bench strength.

“I don’t know why the PCB chairman said that. We have a lot of talented players in the domestic set-up.”

Pakistan and Bangladesh will play the second in Rawalpindi from August 30.
