The pitch used for the warm-up match between India and Bangladesh at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium was not of international standard. The odd delieveries of fast bowlers were keeping low.
Tanzim Hasan Sakib bowled the last ball of India’s innings and it didn’t bounced at all, surprising Hardik Pandya. The all-rounder was seen laughing as he couldn’t believe what he saw.
There was some bounce in the early overs but that didn’t last long, making the batting difficult. Former India player Sanjay Manjrekar, who was in the commentary box, criticized the International Cricket Council for giving sub-standard track for India’s contest.
The sub-continent nation will play their first contest against Ireland on June 5. Manjrekar is hoping to see a better pitch for India’s campaign opener.
“I hope the pitch will be better for the India vs Ireland match in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. I think the outfield will also settle down in coming days,” Sanjay Manjrekar said on Star Sports.
The pitches were brought from Adelaide in Australia. Rohit Sharma’s team will also play their most important encounter of the tournament against Pakistan on June 9 at the same venue.
