“It’s time to call DRS as KL Rahul Review System”: Sunil Gavaskar

KL Rahul has been a revelation as a wicket-keeper since the ICC World Cup 2023. He made all the right calls during the global tournament in India. In the recently concluded ODI series between India and South Africa, Rahul was again spot on with his decision making.

Leading the inexperienced Indian side, he played a key role in DRS calls in the third and final game of the series. Tony de Zorzi (82) and Wiaan Mulder were given not out by the on-field umpires but KL went for DRS and he was right on both occasions.

Praising Rahul for his captaincy and wicket-keeping, Sanjay Manjrekar highlighted the improved glove work.

“He has been sensational behind the stumps. Even his DRS calls are always right,” Sanjay Manjrekar said on Star Sports.

Sunil Gavaskar, who was standing next to Manjrekar, went on to call DRS as KL Rahul Review System. “It’s time to name the DRS as KL Rahul Review System,” he said.

India defeated South Africa by 78 runs to clinch the series by 2-1. Chasing 297 runs, the Proteas were bowled out for 218. Arshdeep Singh took 4 wickets.

Earlier, Sanju Samson slammed his maiden ODI hundred to take the visitors to 296/8.
